Labrador, Newfoundland and subsea tunnel

According to CTV Montreal news, the government of the Quebec province considers funding the construction of the rail tunnel between Labrador and Newfoundland. Premier of the Canadian province Phillipe Couillard announced it on April 12, 2018.

The project was discussed with Premier of Newfoundland Dwight Ball, who agreed it would be important for the facilitation of the economy of the area and beneficial for all the parties involved. Quebec is ready to provide 1.7 billion dollars for the project.

The project will take 15 years. The preliminary feasibility study had been implemented already. At present, the parties are in search of public and private investors. Island Newfoundland together with a part of Labrador peninsula make the Northern province of Canada bordering with Quebec.
