The solemn ceremony of launching the site was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

9 new stations appeared on the scheme of the capital’s “subway”: “Terekhovo”, “Kuntsevskaya”, “Davydkovo”, “Aminevskaya”, “Michurinsky Prospekt”, “Prospekt Vernadskogo”, “Novatorskaya”, “Vorontsovskaya”, “Zyuzino”. The Kakhovskaya station was reconstructed in accordance with the new requirements for transport infrastructure.

“Today is a historic event for the Moscow Metro – 10 stations are opening at once. I congratulate everyone on this event and this success. The new BCL stations will significantly improve the transport accessibility of districts in the west and south of Moscow. For millions of people, trips will become faster and more comfortable. The whole rhythm of the city will change,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said via videoconference.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called BCL the central project of the capital’s transport hub. Together with the MCC, it is a new supporting framework for the entire transport system of Moscow.

At the moment, the construction of the BCL is completed by 70%. The main work will be completed in 2022, and in 2023, the largest metro ring will close and begin to work in full mode.

Note:

At the moment, 22 stations operate on the BCL, the length of the line is 43.75 km.

The sinking of all BCL tunnels will be completed in December 2021, after the last 2 sections are completed. The first section with a length of 7.2 km runs from the station “Elektrozavodskaya” to “Savelovskaya”, its length is 7.2 km. The second – from “Kashirskaya” to “Nizhegorodskaya” – has a length of 11.4 km.

The Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line is the largest project in the history of metro construction in Russia and one of the largest in the world. The length of the BCL will be 70 km, it will include 31 stations and 3 electric depots. It will relieve the Ring Line, as passengers will not have to go to the center to transfer to the radial branch. Thus, BCL will save passengers 35 – 45 minutes a day.

During the construction of the BCL, technical solutions were laid that will allow to connect new metro radii to it: Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya, Troitskaya and Biryulyovskaya lines.

From the stations of the Big Ring it will be possible to make 23 transfers to 11 other metro lines, 4 – to the Moscow Central Ring (MCC), 6 – to the MCD-1 and MCD-2 and 11 transfers to other branches of the railway.
