Alexandria finally will have metro line

The development of the metro system project for the second-largest Egyptian city will begin in 2020.

The feasibility study and geological study have already been completed. The metro line will connect the eastern point of Alexandria at the suburbia Abu Qir and the industrial Borg El Arab at the South-West. The construction pace is estimated at 2 years. The construction cost is about $1,05 billion, and an international corporation will become a contractor. The construction will be divided into three phases.

The passenger traffic is estimated at 10-15 thousand per hour. There is only one metro system in Egypt at the moment in Cairo.
