The Twin Peaks Tunnel is a tunnel for light rail and a 3.65 km long tram, which was opened in 1918. In 2019, SFMTA completed a major project in the Twin Peaks tunnel with seismic upgrades, major road repairs, and other infrastructure.
More work must now be done on this important stretch of track. From November 30, construction crews will begin repair work.

Planned works include replacing contact network connectors (OCS), overhead power lines, track fasteners, rails, ballast paths, arrow translation, tunnel adjustment, rail resurfacing, installation of new subway lights, and multiple track tests and OCS.
The work is scheduled for about three months, until February 2021. SFMTA is currently working with the contractor to order ballast replacement and improve drainage on and around the Eureka curve.
