Under the contract, announced in March 2020, the Keolis-MHI consortium consisting of Keolis (70%), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering (25%) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering (25%). and Mitsubishi Corp (5%), will replace British Serco as operator of the 79-kilometre section of the Dubai Metro and 10.6 km of light rail lines in the suburb of Al-Sufouh. The transfer of power will take place in September 2021. The cost of the agreement is about 125 million per year.

“We strive to ensure the highest standards of operation, maintenance, safety and safety for metro and tram drivers, and must achieve competitive performance and punctuality of travel,” said RTA CEO Mattar Mohammed Al Thayer.

According to the contract, the consortium must operate and maintain the Dubai Metro Red and Green Lines, as well as the 2020 Route 2020 Line, which will open in 2021. It is noted that in the future it will be extended to Al Maktoum International Airport. The company will also ensure the smooth operation of the Dubai Tram and all the assets of the metro and tram networks, including trains, control centers, stations and related infrastructure.

“We are honored to be selected by RTA together with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering and Mitsubishi Corporation to operate and maintain Dubai’s complex driverless metro system and without a contact network,” added Keolis Group CEO Marie-Ange Debon.
