The conference with the theme “Integrated Underground Solutions for Compact Metropolitan Cities” was organized by ACUUS, the Geotechnical Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the Hong Kong Geotechnical Society.
The conference was held on November 5-7. At the parallel sessions 110 papers were presented. The topics included fire and safety, planning and design, innovative techniques, and other important topics. The program of the conference benefited from 6 key lectures presented by well-known specialists.
ACUUS is an international organization involved in urban underground space development. It joins specialists from many countries who are interested in the advanced urban practices comprising underground construction. The conference runs every two years in different cities of the world. In 2016, the conference took place in St Petersburg. It was jointly organized by ACUUS and Association of Underground Builders.
